What you get

Why people call us for plumbing repairs

  • Fixed pricing agreed up front, so a two hour job does not become a four hour bill.
  • We turn out for small jobs. A lot of firms will not, which is why people end up living with a dripping tap for a year.
  • WRAS qualified, so the work meets water regulations rather than just holding.
  • Tidy. Floors covered, old parts taken away, no mess left behind.
  • If we spot something else developing, we tell you about it. Whether you fix it is up to you.

Plumbing repairs and installations we handle

  • Taps and mixers. Dripping taps fixed, taps replaced, mixer taps fitted, kitchen taps upgraded, and boiling water taps such as Quooker installed or repaired.
  • Toilets. Running toilets, cistern and flush mechanism repairs, and new toilets fitted.
  • Sinks and basins. Kitchen sinks installed, basins replaced, blocked sinks cleared and waste pipes repaired.
  • Baths and showers. Showers installed, shower pumps fitted, thermostatic shower valves repaired and baths replaced.
  • Pipework. Leaking and burst pipes repaired, old pipework replaced and new waste pipes run.
  • Appliances. Washing machines and dishwashers plumbed in, and water softeners and water filters fitted.

If you would like to try the simplest job yourself first, our guide on how to fix a dripping tap walks you through it, including when to stop and call someone.

Blocked sinks, toilets and drains

We clear most blocked sinks, toilets and drains with professional equipment. If the blockage turns out to be in the main sewer, we tell you, and point you to a specialist drainage contractor rather than attempt a job that needs different equipment.

Kitchen plumbing

Whether you are renovating the whole kitchen or just want a new tap, we handle the plumbing: sink installation, tap and mixer upgrades, dishwasher and washing machine connections, water filter systems and kitchen waste pipes.

If a new kitchen is going in, bring us in before the units are fitted. The pipework can then go exactly where the sink and appliances need it, instead of being worked around afterwards. For a new bathroom rather than a repair, see bathroom installation.

Questions

Plumbing Repairs questions, answered

Do you take on small jobs?

Yes. Dripping taps, running toilets, a leaking isolation valve, a new washing machine connection. These are the jobs a lot of firms turn down, and they are exactly the ones that turn into bigger problems if left.

Why do my pipes bang when the washing machine runs?

That is water hammer. Modern appliances use fast-acting solenoid valves that stop the flow instantly, sending a pressure shockwave back through the pipework. If pipes are not clipped tightly they bang against joists and walls. The fix is either securing the pipework properly or fitting a shock arrestor, a small expansion vessel that absorbs the shockwave. Left alone it loosens fittings and eventually causes leaks.

My water pressure has dropped suddenly. What causes that?

Sudden loss usually means a new leak, water company works in your area, or a failed pressure reducing valve. Gradual loss over years is more likely scale buildup or corroded pipework. A quick check first: make sure your main stopcock is fully open, since a partially closed stopcock accounts for a surprising share of low pressure calls.
