A cheaper quote is not always a cheaper job
These are the six things we check on every quote people send us. Any one of them missing can cost you far more than the difference in price.
Is the boiler correctly sized?
Oversized boilers are the most common way to make a quote look competitive. You pay for it every day it runs.
Is a system clean included?
Fitting a new boiler to a dirty system is a leading cause of rejected warranty claims. If it is not on the quote, it is not happening.
Is a magnetic filter included?
Most manufacturers require one for the longer guarantees. Leaving it off saves them a little and costs you years of cover.
Is Building Control notification included?
Legally required, and your solicitor will ask for the certificate when you sell. It is not optional, but it is often quietly missing.
What is the actual guarantee length?
Guarantees vary hugely by manufacturer and by installer accreditation. A two-year difference is worth real money.
Is removal and disposal included?
Old boilers, tanks and cylinders have to go somewhere. Some quotes leave that as an extra you discover on the day.
We will point these out even when it means telling you the other quote is the better deal. Losing one job is cheaper than earning a reputation for talking people into things.

How the quote challenge works
Do you really beat any quote?
We beat most of them, and we will tell you honestly when we cannot. If another firm has quoted genuinely keenly for the right specification, we will say so rather than cut corners to win the job. What we will not do is match a cheap price by fitting a smaller boiler than your property needs or skipping the system clean, because that is how people end up paying twice.
What do you need from me?
The quote itself is ideal, as a PDF, a photo or a screenshot. If you do not want to send it, just tell us the figure and what it covers. We need to know the specification to compare fairly, because a quote that excludes a system flush, a magnetic filter or the Building Regulations notification is not the same job.
Is this a bait and switch?
No. The price we quote is fixed and covers parts, labour, the system clean and removal of the old unit. Nothing gets added on completion day. Our reviews repeatedly mention this, including customers who expected the price to creep up and it did not.
How quickly will you come back to me?
Same day in almost every case. If the quote is straightforward we will often give you an answer on the phone rather than making you wait for an email.
What if their quote is missing something important?
We will tell you. The most common omissions we see on boiler quotes are no system flush, no magnetic filter, no inhibitor and no Building Regulations notification. Any of those can invalidate the manufacturer guarantee later, which makes a cheaper quote considerably more expensive than it looks.
