Three Bridges is part of Crawley and it is on our doorstep. If something goes wrong here we are genuinely nearby rather than quoting an optimistic arrival time from the other side of the county.
Local knowledge
One of the older parts of Crawley, with Victorian housing around the railway that predates the new town entirely, then substantial 1950s and 1960s neighbourhood development, then Maidenbower and Pound Hill expansion from the 1980s onward. The Victorian stock near the station is a different plumbing job altogether from the estate housing around it.
The Victorian terraces near Three Bridges station still hold original pipe runs in solid walls and under suspended floors, sometimes with sections of lead still in place on the incoming supply. Any property of that age is worth checking, because lead supply pipe is both a water quality issue and a flow restriction that no amount of pressure boosting will fix properly.
Leave the property, do not touch any switches, then call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. Once it is made safe, call us and we will handle the repair and recommissioning as Gas Safe registered engineers.

Questions
Yes. Three Bridges is our own neighbourhood and minutes from base, and we cover it along with Pound Hill, Maidenbower, Worth, Northgate, Furnace Green and Tilgate. Being this close means small repairs, servicing and landlord certificates are as easy to book as a new boiler, so there is no reason to live with a dripping tap because it feels too small to call about.
Yes. Three Bridges has the same hard water as the rest of Crawley. You will see the limescale on taps and in the kettle, and the same scale forms inside boilers and hot water cylinders. Fit a scale reducer or softener where the water comes in and keep up a yearly boiler service, from £105, and it gets dealt with before it turns into a breakdown.
Some do. The terraces by the station were built before the new town existed, and some still have their original pipework buried in solid walls and running beneath timber floors, occasionally including a lead incoming supply. Lead is dull grey and soft enough to scratch with a coin. Replacing it is worthwhile, because it affects water quality and restricts flow in a way that pressure boosting will not properly fix.
Very. The 1950s and 1960s neighbourhood housing around Three Bridges typically still runs on its first copper pipework, and a lot of that is at the end of its working life. Maidenbower, built from the 1980s onward, generally has plastic push-fit pipework and a modern combi. The two fail in different ways, so we diagnose each on its own terms rather than applying the same fix to both.
We are genuinely nearby, since Three Bridges is minutes from our base, though the exact arrival time depends on what the day already holds. Ring us and you will get a real answer on timing. Close the stopcock first, then run the cold taps to empty the pipes. There is no weekend premium, so a Sunday call-out is charged at the same rates as a Tuesday one.
